Now, I'm doing something vaguely similar, meaning, two male transformers creating an 'offspring', but, it's just a Spark, the smaller one was seriously modified, and they are really, really in love with each other. But it's not pregnancy. And the smaller one will be seriously crippled. And they did it as an experiment, not to be 'happy' about it.

Oh, I can imagine. "Starscream, your chest got bigger!" ... Holy Matrix. Though, I'd like to witness the birth. The sight of Megatron being all anxious, and holding Starscream's hand would worth the braindamage.

Ooh, They had a few femmes. So I dubbed them 'Spark Mothers', and their anatomy is fitted to create a new Spark, when they bond with a 'male'. Or, there's the Creation Matrix, given to the big leaders OMG, slightly disturbing mental images about Optimus- namely, he being all mushy over his offspring XD lol, emoprime.. The new Spark is placed inside an 'empty' protoform body (introduced in the movie), and the reaction results in a new not-quite-yet-transformer. ^^ As the 'kid' matures, s/he can decide what kind of alt-mode s/he wants. (Seriously, according to the movie, they could assume new forms in every other sec.)

The Creation Matrix is what probably makes the new bots if and when they need ones. You could also stretch that the female/frailer-looking ones have the same function for backup if the leader is in shit condition (TF movie) or in battle or emergency. Actually I think they'd rarely need new bots so making one would be a big event. But I can see Optimus all smiley and welcoming the new one in a father-kind-of-way xD I'd also guess a new bot would already have a vast amount of encyclopedia knowledge and maybe even a predetermined function, but would need time to sort out his own reaction to things. And maybe I'm giving too much thought to this xD

Just think about it, for a HUGE amount of time, they had NO emergencies. So if the cuter-looking 'bots are now technically able to sprout Sparks, that's a function which came along with the war. (Hah, my story is justified.) But yes, 'formers don't really have a childhood - more like a period of time, when the others call them too young and bully them. Aww.

And y'know, whenever I see Soundwave sending one of the Casettes into action, I remember that there are FIVE OTHER 'BOTS IN HIS DAMN CHEST. O_O It's a fucking Orgy. And Ravage is a metallic panther. And Buzzsaw and Laserbeak are fucking BIRDS. I don't want to see any of them doin' a dead 'bot. Please.
