I've come across a TF:RotF rev - haven't read it, because the reviewer said the movie's shit.
A huge bunch of comments followed, 70% of the peeps moaning and bitching and mourning. The rest...
Well, THIS rev reflects my opinion totally.
"I go to the God damn movies to be entertained. ENTERTAINED. Escapist shit you know? I don't seek intellectual enlightenment or spiritual edification, and frankly, if people do, there's a serious emotional problem involved. Help is available professionally. If it's intellectual enlightenment you seek read a book, trust me they still print them. If it's spiritual edification attend church. Attending films for anything other than a sensory experience is assinine. People have WAAAAAY too high of expectations and projecting their own personal views rather than simply accepting something for it's own merits at face value and either enjoying it or not enjoying it. Anything else stinks of self-ingratiation." (by joshuavance1701)
I think I've voiced a similar opinion after seeing "Don't mess with the Zohan".

Date: 2009-06-30 08:39 am (UTC)TF movie has big gigant shiney robots. If they have the same in the 2nd part I will be entertained. And will love it. :D
I have some expectations like no big and glaring plotholes; acting actors and such... But yeah. While sometimes bitching after the movie can be fun (and it's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me) I usually enjoy every second spent in the cinema. ^^

Date: 2009-06-30 08:51 am (UTC)I don't think people are going to see Transformers in order to be enlightened. Most of the bitching I have heard has been over the incredibley inconsistant story, the irritating characters and the shoddy camera work.

Date: 2009-06-30 11:12 am (UTC)Storywise I kinda gave up on the movie industry; if one good comes along, it's nice, but stopped expecting to be blown away. What to expect when all they do nowadays is recycle old plots/stories?

Date: 2009-06-30 03:25 pm (UTC)I reserve my judgment about TF until we see it, and while I'm wary of a thing or two, I've had some very positive disappointments about recent blockbusters.
The opinion posted above is more about the general mindset concerning movies. Do not expect deep, moving thoughts, enjoy the 'racist stereotypical humor' and chew your popcorn well.
Besides, no matter how bad, a real fan will enjoy it. I constantly bitch about Beast Wars, but I've watched it in a foreign language when I was younger simply because it had to do with Transformers.
