As per usual Christmas/ Hanukka/Yule celebrations tis the season of gift giving. (Almost. Give it a day.) And the wishlist meme is out again. Please read the steps.

Step One
Make a post (public, friends locked,filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friends list (or friends friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part: If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Dear American Parents.

I know that you are all concerned about your ungrateful dear children's mental health, but there some things, which AREN'T the sign of depression, eating disorders and the other trendy mental illnesses. Those signs NOT related to menatal illnesses are the following (among others)

- posession of an online blog. Did you know that actors and authors keep blogs, too?

- Homo-, or bisexuality. NO it's NOT an illness, neither a 'state of mind'. Get over with it.

- limited or no interest in religion. God gave us a free will and one can very vell decide that s/he doesn't want to do anything with Him. PERIOD. You claim to live in a free country. Act like it.

Also, _TRYING_ to find out if your children are "guilty" of one of the things mentioned above is an outright and downright disrespectful attack against the child's basic human rights. CONSTITUTION. Do you spell it, motherfucker...?

Maybe you should raise them that they won't have to hide things from you, fearing your reaction.

((The above statement is based off on a real life experience - not mine, as I'm European, but a friend's))
