The RoyEd sniplet series: Headache 2
Colonel Mustang stepped into his office and he wasn’t even that surprised to see the older Elric sitting on the couch.
“Yo.” He greeted the blonde shortly and walked to his desk. If the boy wants something, he’ll say it.
Ed looked up with a somewhat clouded gaze. “Taisaa..?” he mumbled.
“Yes, that's me.” The older man was clearly amused.
The small-framed alchemist lay down on his side and curled up into a ball. “Head hurts...”
He sounded really pitiful and that alone was alarming enough. Mustang frowned and stepped to the boy swiftly, leaning down to place a hand on the smooth forehead, checking his temperature. “Are you ill? Feverish?”
“No, no fever, I guess.” Fullmetal tried to shrug it off, sensing that the pain made him to lower his guard. “Maybe I haven’t slept well. It just hurts a little.” He sat up and leaned his head on Taisa's shoulder.
Roy closed his arms around Ed. “And why didn't you sleep well?” He kissed Ed's hair with a smug smile. “Maybe you missed someone?”
The golden-eyed Elric smiled and let out a small snicker. He loved this smug bastard colonel. “Mayyybe... And I guess the pillow was too soft. Can you massage my shoulders...?”
“I suppose...” Roy shrugged and started to massage the delicate-looking but quite strong shoulders; he paid attention not to rub too hard around the automail port. “Better?” he asked after some minutes; and he chose not to mention Ed's ability to transmute the pillow. Seriously, one would expect something better from a genius.
“Mmm, feel so nice...” Ed murmured with a soft smile and he leaned against Taisa. “Thank you.”
Mustang kissed Ed softly. “It was my pleasure...” Then, he embraced the small body again. “So what were you doing, while you were alone?” he inquired with a sly smirk.
“You wouldn't believe, Taisa.” The boy cast a side glance to the man. “I slept.”
“Someone was lucky...” Roy sighed.
“What, you were working all night...?”
“No, I slept, for 5 or 6 hours.“
“Hmm. They say a grown man needs 8 hours of sleep a day” Ed mused. “We're underdoing it.”
“You're not a grown man.” Another lazy smirk “You need more sleep.”
“Shut up. I'm a grown man in the military's terms.” Fullmetal said with much self-confidence. “Kids don't get National Alchemist qualifications. Plus, I'm the best alchemist around; I need the time for research.”
“The military may consider you as an adult, but you aren't.” Roy sighed. “And let me tell you, for the title of "best alchemist" there are several people willing to fight. And researches can be done during the day as well, not just during the night...”
“Yeah, sitting on the train while I travel, right? You expect me to carry the whole National Library on my back?”
“No, I don't. It would ruin your last chances to grow some more inches... “
A dangerous flame flared up in the golden eyes and Ed growled while attempting to strangle the older man.
Roy just grinned and lived through the attempted murder, finally moving backwards, out of reach. “Enough, Fullmetal.”
“I always tell you the same but you simply can't quit with these stupid jokes! I'm not small! I'm just... compact. Easy to store.”
Mustang couldn’t hold back another smirk. “Very easy... But never mind. I like you like this.”
Ed pouted without really feeling like it. And when he saw that pouting won’t get him anywhere this time, he simply cuddled closer to the other alchemist. The ache began to fade slowly; Ed took a painkiller some minutes before Mustang returned to his office “Nyan.”
Taisa let out a world-weary sigh. “Today you're very articulate...” Then, he kissed Ed softly. “Do you want me to open a bottle?”
Now, it was Fullmetal’s turn to smirk. “Bottle? I'm under drinking age you bastard.”
“Then I'll drink, and you can watch.” Roy smirked back.
“Do you have something sweet?” Ed gave up and settled down on the couch more comfortably.
“Wine. Chocolate.” Mustang listed. “And I've some liquor, if you meant that.”
“Chocolate cream liquor...?”
“Probably...” Mustang stood up and searched in the liquor-cabinet. “Yes, there is a bottle.” He filled two glasses and handed one to the boy. “Here you are.” It was a small amount and it wasn’t that strong; Ed could safely drink it, Roy was sure.
“Thanks.” The blond alchemist took the glass and carefully sipped the creamy liquor. “Mmm, good. I like this”
“Cheers.” Mustang tasted the drink too and he smiled as it burned its was down on his throat. “I hope so” he replied to the last comment with a smirk. “I don't keep cheap stuff around.”
“Oh yes, you earn enough. And you don't spend it on something else than booze and women.”
Taisa snickered. “What should I buy? Fluffy animals? Toys? At least the ladies are appreciating my gifts.”
“At least they get some.” Ed looked into his glass, like there would be something very interesting.
“Oh, Edward, don't tell me, I should woe you. With flowers, meaningless praises and smiles. I thought you don't like if someone treats you as a girl... “
“I do not, of course. But, um, well, you could... Ah never mind.” He took another sip from the liquor.
“What could I?” Mustang got quite interested. “Please, finish it.”
The small-framed alchemist hesitated a little. “Y'know... Books. Chocolate. Dinner in some restaurant.” He blushed, and looked away. “I... I'd like to...” his voice was quiet “... dance with you sometimes.”
The black-haired man felt a pleasant warmth to creep into his heart at those words. He nodded, stepped to the boy and gently cupped his face to turn him back. “That could be done...” he smiled reassuringly before kissing Ed softly. “Have you eaten already?”
“Umm... I haven't had any dinner yet...”
Mustang kissed his subordinate again. “So, if I call a restaurant, you won't try to kill me?”
Ed couldn’t help but smile. The pain was almost gone. “No...”
“Good.” Taisa grinned and reached out for the phone. “Go, take a shower, while I speak.” He motioned towards the small bathroom attached to his office.
“All right.” Ed stood up and went to the bathroom, with small hops. He was amazingly cute like that.
Roy stared after him, and called a nearby restaurant.
