The tall gates closed behind them with a grave sound, the low rumble rolling out into the night like thunder.
The tall young man with silvery hair and glowing emerald eyes swallowed and gripped the hilt of his sword tight as the teardrops rolled down on his face. "I'll never see them again," he whispered. "I'll never see her again, I can never beg for her forgiveness. I couldn't even say goodbye to my parents... not even my commander."
The other young man, a slender, dark-skinned dancer in fine clothes embraced the weeping youth's shoulders. "You're not the only one who mourns," he told him gently. "I left a lover behind and precious friends. I feel your pain. Thought I know it won't lessen it."
The little girl looked up to the sky. The heavy rainclouds were already gathering. Her guardian was right behind her, like always, but the bright presence was gloomy now, weak and trembling, writhing under the weight of the emotions his mistress discarded.
The girl threw a glance to her companions - the weeping warrior and the prince, who's amber eyes seemed to be frozen by grief, and slowly, she felt the first teardrop run down on her cheek.
The raindrops started to fall, heavier with each minute, washing away the traces of the outcasts.
